Hear Your Words –
The power of reading aloud
for self-editing
The most useful way to begin editing your own work is by reading it aloud [1]. Doing this will tell you much about how readable your text is (versus whether it is grammatically correct; correct prose can still be difficult to understand); about the flow of your language and sentences; about the patterning of your sentences (long/short, complex/simple); about whether it’s working or not.
